SOMETHING FEELS OFF?
Let’s get a better look.
“UNTIL you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate”
-CARL JUNG
Hey, I’m Heather
I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and the therapist behind Your Horizon Psychotherapy. My approach to therapy is about more than understanding what’s happening in your head. We can also pay attention to what’s happening in your body, what you’ve learned to do to cope, and what you might need now.
YOUR HORIZON PSYCHOTHERAPY
Your Way Forward
At Your Horizon Psychotherapy, I offer online psychotherapy for teens and adults in Ottawa and across Ontario who want to better understand themselves, feel more connected to their bodies and internal experiences, and move beyond simply getting through the day.
Depending on what you need, our work might begin with practical strategies for managing anxiety, overwhelming emotions, stress, or difficult patterns. From there, we can also explore what’s happening beneath the surface, including the thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and experiences that shape how you respond to yourself and the world around you.
Sometimes, Noticing is where change begins.
You may notice yourself falling into the same patterns, feeling overwhelmed by emotions you don’t fully understand, or responding to situations in ways that no longer feel helpful.
Our experiences can shape the way we think, feel, relate to others, and experience our bodies, often without us realizing it.
Therapy can give us space to slow things down and notice what’s happening. That might mean becoming aware of a thought or pattern, but it can also mean noticing tension in your body, an urge to pull away, the feeling that you need to keep everyone happy, or the moment you start to shut down.
When we become more aware of what’s happening, we create a little more space to decide what we need and how we want to respond.
What Brings You Here?
-
Past experiences can continue to shape how you feel, respond, and relate to others. You may feel on edge, disconnected, easily overwhelmed, or notice that your body reacts strongly to certain situations even when you know you're safe.
-
You may notice yourself repeating patterns in relationships, struggling to trust, fearing rejection, pulling away, people-pleasing, finding it difficult to express what you need, or reacting before you've had time to understand what you actually need.
-
Change can bring uncertainty about who you are, what you want, or where you’re headed. You may be navigating a new chapter or questioning whether the path you're on still feels right for you.
-
Emotions may sometimes feel intense, unpredictable, or difficult to manage. You might feel overwhelmed by what you're experiencing, react in ways you later regret, or shut down when things become too much.
-
You may find yourself caught in worry, overthinking, physical tension, panic, or constantly anticipating what could go wrong, even when part of you knows you're okay.
-
You may feel low, disconnected from yourself or your body, exhausted, unmotivated, or less interested in the things that usually matter to you.
